Hey Momma...
So I answered a couple of the questions for you earlier, but as for the
other ones... I have plenty of money in there right now. We went to this
gigantic store the other day, that I'll tell you about later but I had
enough cash left over from traveling so I didn't even use my card. And as
for packages, DHL, FEDEX, or UPS are the way to go. I still haven't gotten
the one you sent me hahaha but it's all good. I'm pretty positive that I
ship out to my mission on the 24th, but that could possibly change...
But now I have to tell you all about my week. It was nuts!
So on Monday we went to the University like always and it was pretty
packed this week... But seeing how we didn't really get anywhere last week
we decided to try a new tactic... I told my companion to stop walking when
we got to this one corner of a park and we were just gonna let the people
come to us because we hadn't gotten to talk to anybody yet. So we stopped
and just said "Hi" to everybody that was walking by and all of a sudden people
just started stopping to talk to us... It was awesome! We ended up talking
to people because they were curious what two white guys were doing smiling and
laughing on the corner of a park haha but it was great because the vast
majority of them were interested in what we had to share... We even got to
give a Book of Mormon to a guy that was trying to help support his family
and just felt like he was missing something. It was awesome to feel like I
was actually doing some good. It got me so pumped to actually get out into
the field cause I know this stuff is true! and I want everybody else to know
it too, so I can't wait for the chance to do that everyday! ... but
hopefully my Spanish will get a little better by then... haha
Otherwise, the week has just gone by super fast... But today all of the
Latin missionaries that already know Spanish came in to start training
before they go out into the field in three weeks... It's sweet, there are 20
new Elders and 5 new Sisters and I think 3 of them speak English. It's great
because we got 2 elders in our room and now it's making us speak a lot more
Spanish which we all need the help with. I've met a few from Guatemala, but
none are from Quetzaltenango... But tell Dad that I'm keeping an eye out...
Besides that all is well... I've got three weeks left here and then
It's a 3 hour bus ride north and I'm in my Mission.
Tell Livy that I'm sorry she has the flu, but this will give
her plenty of time to practice her Spanish for when I come home. And tell
Julia that I hope she's doing great in tennis or soccer or whatever she's
doing right now... I miss them both and please give them each a huge hug for
me.
I love you!
Always
Elder Joel Cornwell
